A study of Pesticide Residues in Water Samples of Agricultural Areas from H.D Kote Taluk, Mysore, Karnataka, India
Abstract
Pesticides are biologically active chemicals which are used for killing the pests. These substances are meant for attracting, seducing of plants or animals, causing harm during or otherwise interfering with the production, and then destroying or mitigating any pest. Water samples were collected from different cultivated agricultural fields of H.D.Kote taluk and physico-chemical characteristics were experimentally determined. The analysis of physico-chemical characteristics of water showed that, parameters like Total hardness, Electrical conductivity, Sulphate were within the permissible limits of WHO standards. The Dissolved oxygen was found to be higher than the permissible limits, which indicates reduction in load of biodegradable materials in water. The Alkalinity and Nitrite showed the higher concentration indicates. In water samples pesticides were analyzed through LCMS. LCMS analysis 5 of 7 water samples; some of the pesticides were detected. In the present study areas, farmers are much familiar with pesticides to protect and boost up their crops. As a result, pesticides were present in the water bodies, which were confirmed from LCMS study. So, farmers of this area have to give more attention on their daily usage of pesticides.

ASSESSMENT OF WATER QUALITY IN LAKE WATER SAMPLE OF RANKALA AT KOLHAPUR
Abstract
Water is a source of life. But pollution of water is the biggest threat in today’s world. Kolhapur city of Maharashtra state is known for its beautiful lakes. . As most of these water bodies contain, domestic sewage, industrial waste, agricultural waste thus deteriorating water quality. The increasing trend in concentration of heavy metals in the environment has created lot of awareness about environmental pollution. These heavy metals have a marked effect on the aquatic flora and fauna which through bio magnification enter the food chain thereby affecting the human being. Hence this study is carried out to assess the quality of water in lake water samples . As the quality of water greatly affect the all forms of life , this attempt has made to asses and monitor the quality by studing physico-chemical properties of water. The lake water samples were collected from Rankala at Kolhapur and analysed every month throughout the year. So, we have studied levels of nitrate in lake water sample from Rankala , Kolhapur . Annual average of nitrate content was 0.95 mg/L.

Concentration of Free Carbon Dioxide present in Industrial water sample of Nipani Town
Abstract
The Industrial water samples were taken from Halsiddhnath sugar factory from Nipani town and analysed every month throughout the year. We have studied levels of free carbon Dioxide present in industrial water. Concentration of Free Carbon Dioxide was found higher than the desirable limit of DO (5 mg/ up to 12.56mg / lit). The seasonal analysis indicated that the levels of DO were generally higher in summer and winter than their levels in rainy season.
