Effect of packaging materials on the shelf life of shredded cabbage

Abstract :

Good quality cabbage of variety NS43 was collected and surface sanitized using 30 ppm sodium hypo chlorite solution, outer strings removed, washed and fresh shreds were made, pretreated with 1% calcium chloride solution, air dried and packaged under different packaging materials and stored under refrigerated storage. Analysis of physical, physiological and chemical quality parameters and microbial revealed that vacuum packaging in laminated pouches as the effective packaging material for shredded cabbage.
