Phytochemical Screening of the Leaf Extract of Capparis divaricata Lam. by GC-MS Analysis
Publication Date : 29/01/2017
The present study was carried out to determine the phytocomponents in the methnolic leaf extract of Capparis divaricata Lam. (Capparaceae). It is commonly known as thuratti and distributed throughout India. Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectroscopy (GC-MS) analysis of the extracts were carried out using GC-MS Clarus500 Perkin Elmer system. The GC-MS analysis had shown the presence of 19 phytocomponents in the methanolic extract of leaf. The major components were 1 H - Indole-3-ethanamine, N, N–dimethyl; Methyl, 2- irnyl- 5- ethyl- 5- dimethyl-; delta.-methylpyrophaeophorbide- a and homologues; 2, 6, 10, 14, 18, 22- Tetracosahexaene, 2, 6, 10, 15, 19, 23-hexamethyl; 2, 3, 3a, 4, 5, 6-Hexahydro- 1H-benzo [f] pyrrolo [1, 2-a] Azepine and Hexadecanoic acid, methyl ester. All identified phytocomponents were generally reported as having some pharmacological activity, so that C. divaricata can be considered as a plant of phytopharmaceutical importance.
