DETERMINANTS OF SARDINE VENDOR’S PARTICIPATION ON COMMUNITY HEALTH FUND: A CASE OF ILEMELA MUNICIPAL, MWANZA –TANZANIA

Health resources gap has spearhead adaptation of insurance programs to supplement the government deficit on financing health facility. The scheme has been adopted not only to ensure availability of quality public health services but also serves as an inclusive mechanism for marginalized groups. This paper analyzes factors influencing the likelihood of sardine vendor’s participation in CHF4 scheme in Ilemela Municipal, Mwanza. The findings from logistic regression model revealed that treatment cost, gender, an average earning of sardine vendor, severity of illness and distance to health facility significantly determine the likelihood of sardine vendor to participate on CHF scheme. The study calls for the improvement of primary public health facilities for ensuring accessibility to quality health care for CHF participants so as the benefit accrue to worth than membership fee.
